Motor Lublin recently employed Łukasz Jabłoński, who became vice-president and was to be responsible for, among others, acquiring sponsors. You didn't have to wait long for the results, because just a month later the club announced that it had acquired a giant of the bookmaking industry as its sponsors. However, there has been a lot of speculation surrounding the company.
Motor Lublin announced a new sponsor. They recently looked into selling
“Today, a sponsorship agreement was concluded, under which Fortuna Zakłady Bukmacherskie became the Official Sponsor of Motor Lublin. The contract will be valid at least until the end of the 2024/2025 season with the possibility of extension,” Motor wrote in a press release on Thursday, October 17.
This is a big change for the club, because in recent years no bookmaker has cooperated with the inhabitants of Lublin. The previous one was Forbet. – We are glad that we managed to acquire as a partner a bookmaker company so recognizable on the Polish market, known for supporting Polish sport. We believe that joint activities will bring a lot of good for the club, the sponsor and, above all, our fans. I would like to thank Fortuna for their trust and I hope that the current season is only the beginning of a long-term cooperation – explained Vice President Jabłoński.
– We have been observing the activities of the current newcomer PKO BP Ekstraklasa for a long time. An impressive fan base, dynamic development in every area and, above all, the atmosphere during home matches at the Arena Lublin are elements that cannot go unnoticed – added the president of Fortuna, Konrad Kaczmaruk.
For Motor, it is certainly a cash injection and part of the implementation of Zbigniew Jakubas' plan to make the club finance itself. However, it is not known how long the cooperation between these entities will last. Especially since a lot has happened around Fortuna in recent months.
The bookmaker belongs to the Czech-Slovak investment group Penta Investments registered in Cyprus. The media reported that the owners had already explored the possibilities of selling the subsidiary Fortuna Entertainment Group several times, and for this purpose they had even started cooperation with the financial services giant JPMorgan.
Until last season, Fortuna was the title sponsor of the first league and the Polish Cup. The league competition was taken over by another bookmaker, and the Cup has not yet gained another title sponsor. The company also cooperates with, among others, with Legia Warszawa, Radomiak Radom and KSW.
