The Argentine police detained Russian Konstantin Rudniew, a leader of the Ashram Shambal sect, who was still founded in the Soviet Union, who referred to “the alien from Sirius” and raped his followers – local media reported on Monday. There were seven women with a man who looked malnourished.

Rudniew was detained at the weekend at the airport in the city of Bariloche in Patagonia, from where he tried to escape from Argentina to Brazil. Seven women were detained with him, mainly Russian women, who looked malnourished. Another six people were detained at the airport in the capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires – said the Infobae portal.

According to infobae sources, none of the women accompanying Rudniew was older than 40 years. “All the women were so thin that apparently only left remnants of leftovers, as the leader told them,” one investigators said.

According to the “Clarin” daily, the Russian founded the sect of Ashram Shambal in 1989 in Nowosibirsk. Later, she expanded its activity to many regions Russia and attracted 20,000 followers, mainly young women with personal problems, which were subjected to brainwashing and later were used.

Rudniew was detained in 1999, but then escaped from a psychiatric hospital. In 2013, the court in Nowosibirsk sentenced him to 11 years in prison for rape, sexual harassment and drugs. According to the Russian media, he was released in 2021.

It is not clear what Rudniew and detained women did in Bariloche, but the press speculates that the Russian could decide to transfer his activity to Argentina. Investigators suspect that there was a use or trade in human.

The detention of Rudniew was led to the proceedings initiated in connection with the 22-year-old Russian, who applied in advanced pregnancy to one of the hospitals in Bariloche. She was accompanied by other women of Russian nationality, who did not allow her to speak, and she herself refused to answer the questions about the place of residence and identity of the child's father, which aroused suspicion that she could be a victim of human trafficking.
