The Francis Scott Key Bridge – Key Bridge for short – was a steel truss bridge opened on March 23, 1977. The main span of the bridge was 366 meters long and was the third longest bridge span of this type in the world. The Key Bridge was also the longest bridge in the Baltimore metropolitan area, carrying the important Interstate 695 highway.
