The Volunteer Fire Department in Lutowiska reported the incident. “Today at 4:45 p.m. we were dispatched to the area of ​​the former village of Hulskie near Zatwarnica to help a man attacked by a bear. At the scene of the incident, we found the Zatwarnica Volunteer Fire Department and GOPR, who were the first to reach the injured person,” it was written on Facebook.

“Our actions included assistance in transporting the injured person to the Emergency Medical Services and cooperation with the LPR in securing the landing site at night. Six of our rescuers took part in the activities. Due to the field conditions, we used a quad during the operation,” it added.

Rescuers allegedly found the man conscious and with multiple skin wounds, including those on his head, neck, nape and hands. The injured man was conscious and transported to hospital. The fire brigade operations ended after 6 p.m.

The Bieszczady GOPR published a recording of the action on social media.

“Today we once again saw how important the cooperation of individual services is and how much strength and resources must be involved to save one patient in a life-threatening condition,” the Bieszczady Emergency Medical Service SP ZOZ in Sanok wrote on Facebook.

“The over three-hour operation was extremely difficult and dynamic due to rain, darkness and cold – so we would like to thank everyone involved in today’s intervention for the professional cooperation as usual,” it added.

As rescuers warned, “bears in the Bieszczady Mountains are preparing for hibernation, they are irritated and dangerous.” “When visiting the Bieszczady trails, respect the laws of nature, which will minimize the likelihood of contact with us,” it was written.
