Blue Ghost lander, which landed on the surface of the moon at the beginning of March, provided a lot of photos and data. Particularly noteworthy is photography in a very high resolution, depicting sunset on the surface of the earth satellite. NASA showed her during the Tuesday conference, crowning the mission of the lander.

NASA She published the first high -resolution photos in history, depicting the sunset on the moon. Thus, the agency decided to celebrate the end of the first mission of the Blue Ghost moonlist on our natural satellite.

The photo shows a bright glow over the moon's surface covered with crater.

“These are the first photographs in high resolution that depict the setting sun, as well as the horizon gradually sinking in the dark,” commented Joel Kearns, deputy administrator for exploration at NASA during a Tuesday press conference.

14 days of mission

The Blue Ghost moonlight is the work of Firefly Aerospace. The device landed on the surface of the moon on March 2. His mission lasted exactly 14 days, so as much as one moon day. On Sunday, March 16, Bleu Ghost was turned off. Like the vast majority of this type of devices, the lander was not designed to survive the night on the moon. He would have to endure a very low temperature, falling to over 180 degrees Celsius.

In addition to photographing, the lander dealt with the collection of cosmic weather and other forces that can affect our planet. He had 10 research instruments, thanks to which he could explore the secrets of the lunar pool known as Mare Crisium. Among them was the deepest, so far created, robotic planetary probe, an x -ray apparatus for testing the impact between the sun's wind and the magnetic field of the Earth and the sub -policy probe, based on electrical and magnetic fields, capable of performing measurements at a depth of up to 110 kilometers.

– Teams enthusiastically analyze the obtained data. We are excited about the expected scientific results, which we will get thanks to this mission, “Kearns said.

– Science and technologies, which we now send to the moon, help to prepare the way for future NASA explorations and long -term person's presence to inspire the world and future generations – added Nicky Fox, deputy administrator at NASA.
