Celebrations on May 3. President Andrzej Duda: Take your own responsibility for Poland

– Participation in elections is not only civil law, but also an obligation – emphasized President Andrzej Duda on Saturday during the celebration of the Constitution of May 3. – Take your own responsibility for Poland to leave the presidential election strong – he appealed to his countrymen. “To celebrate the constitution's holidays, the president was able to do like no one. And even better the constitution itself,” Prime Minister Donald Tusk wrote on X.

On Saturday is the 234th anniversary of the adoption of the 3rd May Constitution. On this occasion, a solemn speech at the Castle Square in Warsaw was given by the president Andrzej Duda. He emphasized that “this is the day of Polish pride”.

– Great pride of our historical achievements, great pride from our wonderful state, great pride from our wonderful statehood of over 1000 years old. Great pride from what Poles could and can do – said Duda.

Duda strongly emphasized the role of the president, emphasized the strength of his mandate and the responsibility of him. He also appealed to his countrymen for the most numerous participation in the upcoming elections.

– For Poland to leave the presidential election a strong, strong mandate of the newly elected president, you have to go to the election – emphasized Duda.

– Do it back with full responsibility, considering it not only as civil law, but also as an obligation. For the safety of the Commonwealth, you have to go to the presidential election and you have to vote in accordance with your conscience, with your own sense of responsibility for Poland – the president appealed.

Andrzej Duda also asked citizens to help others take part in the elections. – Take them to your cars. Help them to get to the polling stations so that they can cast their vote – said the president.

The president pointed out that his successor would be not only the head of state, but also the head of the armed forces.

– He will be the head of the armed forces. He will be supervised by compliance with the Polish Constitution. Therefore, he will be obliged that in cases where someone will misuse the Polish Constitution, Polish law, when he is the right to break, regardless of who he will, he will be required to pay him attention to it and say loudly that the law is broken, that he acts illegally, that he violates the rules that he is destroying Polish democracy and that this is a violation of the rule of law – he argued.

As the current president, Andrzej Duda “would like to pass on the Presidential Office to his successor chosen by his compatriots with calmness, regardless of who he would be, but with a deep conviction that he was elected by a really powerful majority, that my countrymen went to the election in a clearly”, and as he added that “these voices were reliably counted”.

– A person from the will of the nation is elected president of the Republic of Poland, so with an extremely strong ticket. There is no second such strong mandate in Poland – he assessed.

“Let's choose the president who will be faithful to this oath”

Even before the appearance of Andrzej Duda, the prime minister referred to the role of the president in the scope of compliance with the constitution Donald Tusk.

In the post on the website X he wrote to remember the importance of the words of the presidential oath, in which it calls for loyalty to the provisions of the Constitution. “Let's choose the president who will be faithful to this oath,” commented the prime minister.

In turn, after the speech of President Duda, the prime minister wrote: “celebrate the festival of the constitution, the president was able to do like no one. And even better the constitution itself.”
