Health officials said the woman died at the Nicosia General Hospital due to heat stroke. Charalambos Charilaou told reporters that the woman suffered cardiac arrest twice upon arrival at the emergency department in Nicosia.

– After investigating the incident, emergency room doctors determined it was a cardiac arrest was the result of sunstroke– Charilaou emphasized. He added that hospitals have been dealing with heat exhaustion cases for several days. He also conveyed that the condition of another three elderly patients is serious.

The second victim of the difficult weather situation was an 84-year-old womanwho also died from sunstroke.
