“The crossing of the border was recorded by the Border Guard surveillance systems, as well as the Coast Guard patrol. The ship sailed about 1.2 nautical miles within Finnish territorial waters” – written.
The patrol boat mentioned in the message was supposed to have tried to contact the crew of the Russian ship by radio, but they did not respond. After several dozen minutes the unit left the territory of Finland.
Currently, as reported, the case is being investigated by Border Guard experts who are checking whether the incident can be classified as a violation of the country's territorial bordersIf this is confirmed, then the case will be taken over by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which will respond to the event accordingly.

The intrusion of the Russian research vessel Mikhail Kazansky into Finnish territorial waters is another incident of this type in recent weeks. According to the local Defense Ministry, on June 10, the country's airspace was violated by a Russian aircraft.
According to official information, the machine was supposed to have crossed the border at the height of the Loviisa region. The plane was over Finnish territory for just over two minutes.
The incident was responded to by, among others, the country's Minister of Defense, Antii Hakkanen, who stated that the ministry “takes airspace violations seriously“. At the same time, a decision was made to initiate an investigation to clarify the details of the incident.
