There is an extremely high fire hazard in Polish forests. On Tuesday, the most difficult situation was recorded in the east and center of the country. According to forecasts, on Wednesday the hazard will be even more serious.
For weeks, many regions of Poland have been struggling with hydrological drought. The lack of rainfall primarily affects the western and north-western regions of the country. Low levels of surface and ground water and low air humidity contribute to an increased fire risk.

According to the study developed by IMWM forest fire hazard maps, on Tuesday in most of the country it was extreme or very high. A lower threat was recorded only in part of Pomerania and mountain areas.
On Wednesday, the situation is expected to be even more dangerous. Almost all of Poland will be in the range of extremely high fire risk. In the north, it will be very high, while locally in Pomerania and the foothills – high or medium.
WITH weather forecast in the coming days it appears that the situation will not change soon. There is a lot of sunshine and little rain ahead of us.
As explained by IMGW, the data comes from a fire hazard forecasting system dedicated to forest areas. Forecasts are made for the whole of Poland on a grid with a spatial resolution of 2.5 x 2.5 km. Fire hazard is forecasted once a day at 12 o'clock official time with a time advance of 24 and 48 hours.
