5 US marines have been killed in a helicopter crash in California. 

The plane, a CH-53E Tremendous Stallion, went down on Tuesday night time throughout stormy weather in mountains outdoors San Diego.

The helicopter was found on Wednesday morning close to the mountain neighborhood of Pine Valley, about 45 miles from town, mentioned the army.

President Joe Biden mentioned in an announcement that he and First Woman Jill Biden have been “heartbroken” to study of the marines’ deaths.

The marines who have been killed weren’t instantly named however they have been assigned to the Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 361, Marine Plane Group 16, third Marine Plane Wing, the military mentioned.

Main Normal Michael J Borgschulte, commander of third Marine Plane Wing, mentioned in an announcement: “It’s with a heavy coronary heart and profound disappointment that I share the lack of 5 excellent marines from third Marine Plane Wing and the Flying Tigers.”

The helicopter had been returning to the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego after coaching at Creech Air Pressure Base, northwest of Las Vegas.

The operation concerned federal, state and native businesses, together with the US Forest Service, US Border Patrol, San Diego County Sheriff’s Division and the state Civil Air Patrol.

The Tremendous Stallion helicopter – the US army’s largest – can carry dozens of individuals and requires 4 crew members – a pilot, co-pilot, crew chief, and mechanic.
