In an open letter published by The New York Times, Clooney thanked Biden for his service, but called for a candidate to change. He wrote about a personal meeting during which the president was weakened and did not recall himself from years ago.

The letter was released on July 10, and 11 days later the growing pressure from voters and party activists Joe Biden withdrew from the candidacy.

Commenting on the activity of Joe Biden, the journalist of the magazine Time wrote that this is a political return that no one asked for. In his opinion, the speech reminded everyone why the former president is not able to arouse enthusiasm. “Even fewer people think that his presence will help fix structural problems in the Democratic Party,” we read.
