In May, a six -month -old boy died in a hospital in Głogów (Dolnośląskie Voivodeship), accepted at the end of February with severe head and chest injuries. An indictment in this case was sent to court. The boy's parents are threatened with life imprisonment.
On Tuesday, the District Prosecutor's Office in Głogów informed about directing an indictment against the parents of Marcin G. and Monika M. abusing his sons-2.5-month and 1.5-year-old.
The case has its beginning on February 27 last year. At that time, a 2.5-month-old Marcinek went to the hospital for the first time. According to parents' accounts, he was to choke in milk. Because no disturbing symptoms were observed in the hospital, the child was discharged.
After returning home, the child was crying. According to the prosecutor's office, the day after visiting the hospital, the father was to hit the boy with a significant strength of his hand in the head. It caused a fracture of both cradle bones of the skull, which resulted in stopping circulation and breath.
– The ambulance was then called again. The father said that the child after serving the porridge could not take a breath – informs Liliana Łukasiewicz, spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Legnica.
They notified the prosecutor's office
After the examination, the boy was found in the skull-brain injury, ischemic changes and brain hypoxia. Subsequent studies have shown, in addition to fracture of parietal bones, brain swelling, which is usually formed after severe head injury. Doctors informed the prosecutor's office that severe head injuries and a baby's chest could have arisen as a result of violence.
Parents were detained on March 4 when they wanted to visit their son in the hospital. They were charged and arrested temporarily. They both heard allegations of mental and physical abuse of two minor sons. They had, among others Push them, hit with your hand and fist on the head and back, kick in the torso, throw against the bed, and leave unattended. They were also accused of causing a boyfriend of the rib and skull bone, as well as causing numerous ischemic changes in the brain, resulting from previous strokes, which was a real life -threatening disease.
The children went to foster care. At the request of new guardians, the younger boy was changed from Marcin, given in honor of his father, to Piotr. On May 20, a less than six -month -old boy died in a hospital in Głogów.
– The obtained medical opinions about both boys showed that both victims were beaten and pushed, they were thrown on various objects and dropped on hard surfaces. It is as a result of such behaviors, especially the father and the lack of reaction from the mother, who thus agreed to harm children, occurred at the victims of numerous skewer's cerebral injuries – explains Liliana Łukasiewicz.
Doctors had no doubt that they were intentionally inflicted on injuries. – The opinion about an older boy – Filip shows that in the past he suffered numerous head injuries in the form of ovenvive hematomas, which in a further consequence led to the formation of water and hydrocephalus water. The development of a one and a half year old child stopped at a six -month -old child. The injuries suffered were severe damage to health in the form of a life -threatening disease, as well as in the form of a severe long -term disease – says Łukasiewicz.
The experts stated that the serious injuries of the younger boy led to his death.
They are threatened with life imprisonment
Currently, Marcin G. was currently accused of abusing children and bringing the death of the younger of them. Investigators described this crime as a murder as a result of motivation that deserves special condemnation. He is threatened with life imprisonment.
As established, Marcin G. – despite prior treatment due to mental illness (many years earlier) – was readable at the time of committing a crime.
The mother of children – 36 -year -old Monika M. was accused of bullying boys by shouting at minors, hitting their hands, neglecting their developmental needs, and also repeatedly leaving boys unattended at the place of residence, which exposed them to the direct danger of severe damage to health.
Investigators decided that the woman, through omission, helped her father to abuse Marcinek's children and murder. She is also threatened with life imprisonment.
They testified
– Due to the limitation of sanity while committing a crime, the court may apply to Monika M. an extraordinary softening of the penalty, which consists in imposing a penalty below the lower limit of statutory threat, and therefore below 15 years. If the act constitutes a crime, as in the present case, the court must impose imprisonment not lower than one third of the lower limit of statutory threat. In the case of the accused, the court may therefore impose her penalty of 5 to 15 years imprisonment – explains Łukasiewicz
Marcin G. did not admit to committing the alleged acts. He finally gave explanations in which he charged his partner Monika M.
Monika M., interviewed as a suspect, also did not admit to committing the alleged offenses. Then she confirmed her spanking and beating the children with a bottle of head. – She also explained that Marcin G. used violence against her and children. She reported that the partner beat children from his fist and “peasantry”, and as for the younger son, that he pressed his head to the pillow, and also often took him in both hands, lifted him and shook him with both hands holding in front of him and threw him on the bed “like sack “, and pushed, moved and kicked. She also reported that on February 28, 2024, Marcin G. hit his younger son “Hand of his fists” after he pulled him out of her hands and began to shake him – says Łukasiewicz.
Marcin G. is still in custody. Monika M. is currently in prison in connection with another matter.
Failure to comply with official duties
In the case of child abuse and the death of the younger brothers, there are separate proceedings regarding the possible failure to fulfill official duties by police officers in Przemków, court curators of the District Court in Głogów and local government employees in the commune of Przemków.
– The investigation in this matter is still being progressed. So far, no one has been charged – said Liliana Łukasiewicz.
