A 27-year-old man who was supposed to intentionally cause a car accident in Gniezno faces a life sentence for the attempted murder of his ex-partner. The incident occurred on June 27. The man was taken to temporary custody.
The Gniezno police reported that on June 27 in the afternoon on Powstańców Wielkopolskich Street, a Volvo car with two people in it overturned. The driver and passenger were not seriously injured. The 21-year-old passenger told the police officers who arrived at the scene that the driver was her ex-partner, who had deliberately caused the accident.
– During the ride, an argument allegedly broke out between them, after which, while driving on a straight road, the man pressed the gas pedal, only to turn the steering wheel sharply to the left a moment later, driving into a roadside ditch and hitting an embankment, which caused the vehicle to somersault. The passenger was provided with medical assistance at the hospital and then released – the police described.
The 27-year-old driver was stopped by police. The man was sober, but a blood sample was taken to check if he was under the influence of drugs.

Based on the evidence collected, including surveillance footage of the accident, the prosecutor’s office charged the detained 27-year-old with attempted murder of the car’s passenger.
At the request of the investigators, the court imposed a three-month detention on the suspect. He faces up to life in prison for attempted murder.
