The former national team player is homeless

Apolinar Paniagua is 78 years old today and has been homeless for at least several years. According to witnesses, none of his relatives want to help the former Paraguayan representative.

– I recognized him, he was a great striker. I came to help him, I brought him clothes, a blanket, something to eat, I cut his hair. He sleeps on the bench. I did it from the bottom of my heart, I saw that he needed it. He played in many clubs, he was a famous football player, we need to help him – said one of the helpers, whose words were quoted by, among others: Serbian portal “Kurir”.

Paraguayan media claim that Paniagua spends the night in a barracks, quite close to his children, who completely ignore him. However, it was not reported whether and for what reasons the 78-year-old is in a quarrel with his immediate family. Today, he only receives help from random people who try to publicize the case on social media, but without much success. The only one who constantly helps him is a hairdresser from his neighborhood. She regularly cuts him for free and gives him money from time to time to survive.

The clubs he played for also do not lend a helping hand to him and do not raise his issue.

Paniagua repeatedly appealed to various institutions, offices and the state for help, but his appeals were allegedly ignored.
