Constant, weekly rehabilitation and the prospect of at least seven more surgeries. Plus special clothes that make life with severe scars a life without pain. After a terrible accident, 9-year-old Olek has only one dream: he wants to recover. You can help him with this.
At first glance, 9-year-old Olek doesn't seem to have had a serious accident. However, behind his smile there is pain and suffering. The boy in a conversation with a reporter from “Attention!” TVN admitted that he does not feel completely healthy, and his dream is to recover.
– As Aleksander grows, as can be seen in the lumbar section, everything here is pulling, which is why it causes pain to Aleksander, because everything is stuck. We are working to get it all moving, says MaÅ‚gorzata Jankowiak, Olek's rehabilitator.
The boy suffered burns three years ago. His hands, arms, back and chest were damaged. Doctors gave him only a 20 percent chance of survival. To this day it is not known how this happened. One thing is certain: at the time of the accident, Olek was under his mother's care. The prosecutor's office initiated proceedings, but the investigation was discontinued. Now the boy is taken care of by his father and his partner.
Help for the boy
The boy's father in a conversation with the “Attention!” reporter. TVN admitted that he had a great grudge against the boy's mother. In turn, his partner admitted that they would like to know the circumstances of the accident. – It certainly won't change anything, but maybe it would bring closure to this situation and let us know the truth – said Aleksandra Towpik.
The fight to explain the causes of this tragic accident ended in failure. However, efforts to improve the quality of life of an adolescent boy may be successful.
Due to his scars, Olek must wear a custom-made compression shirt made of biomaterials. The annual cost of such manual production is several thousand zlotys. – We use such clothes for about three months to half a year because they deteriorate with use. The patient wears them 24 hours a day. We only take them off for bathing, rehabilitation and massage – explains Agata WlazeÅ‚ from Tricomed.
To prevent the scars from stiffening, the boy must be rehabilitated at least once a week. He will also have to undergo at least seven surgical procedures to remove scars.
