– Poland the energy sector is in a state of change, but we undoubtedly are coalwho will be with us for a long time, will accompany us – said Marzena Czarnecka, Minister of Industry, on Wednesday, October 23. At the headquarters of the Ministry of Industry in Katowice An off-site meeting of the Senate committees for national economy and innovation and the committee for climate and environment was held, devoted to the challenges of energy transformation.
What about coal? Minister of Industry: We have taken up the challenge
– As an example, yesterday we took up the challenge because it turns out that the European Union is looking for a mine that will supply coal by 2050 to all museums that are “powered by coal”. These are, for example, railway museums with coal-powered locomotives. I am taking steps to make this one mine Poland mine, because there are only two countries in this race – said Czarnecka. – I hope that we will win this race, because it will ensure the functioning of coal and show that it is still needed – she added.
The second key element mentioned by the minister is the issue of approach to gas. – Is questionwhether gas is a source that is treated as a fossil fuel in the taxonomy and whether it will be a flexible source that will fill the energy mix in such a formula as to achieve green energy. As we know, these green energy sources are a bit unstable, she emphasized.
Atom in Poland. Marzena Czarnecka: We have a project that we will support
Finally, Marzena Czarnecka mentioned nuclear energy. – We also have a project “from coal to atom”, which we will support within the ministry, i.e. coal sources, which are stable sources, we intend to replace with a large, large-scale nuclear source. We are trying to complete this process, which is in between, so that it is consistent with the PLN 70 billion financing allocated for network development – explained the Minister of Industry.
