Investigation into 67 military picnics

The District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw initiated an investigation into military picnics “strong white and red”. Investigators check whether there has been exceeded rights by state officers and soldiers. About 30 volumes of documentation have already been collected to the case.

A spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw Piotr Antoni Skiba said that it was 67 military picnics that took place on August 12-15, 2023.

– The prosecutor's office will check whether there has been exceeded the rights by public officials and soldiers by organizing these picnics during the celebration of the Polish Army festival with politicians, whether there was an election agitation there – he said.

Investigators will also check whether art. 341 of the Act on the Defense of the Homeland – a ban on participating in a political party, taking part in political assemblies and conducting political activities as well as art. 231 of the Penal Code – an abuse of permissions by a public official.

30 volumes of documentation

The notification in this matter was made by the deputy head of the Mon Mon Cezary Tomczyk.

Prosecutor Skiba said that huge amounts of documentation were collected to the case – at the moment about 30 volumes. – The documentation has been secured, we will determine the people we will question – he added.

– In the scope of each of these events, you will need to conduct, as part of the investigation plan, specific analytical activities and secondly procedural activities – he emphasized.

Picnics during the election campaign

Military picnics organized in 2023 by the Ministry of National Defense took place in dozens of cities. The picnics, which were scheduled for the celebration of the Polish Army Day last year, were also held at the peak of the election campaign. The controversy aroused, among others The statement of the PiS president Jarosław Kaczyński, who during the military picnic “Strong White and Red” in Uniejów, who was accompanied by soldiers on the stage, called Donald Tusk “the personification of evil in Poland”.
