Because as much as 90 percent The production and assembly of iPhones takes place in China (according to the Wedbush Securities estimates), the prices of these devices will probably increase as long as Trump's tariffs remain in force.

The scale and date of increases depend on how quickly Apple will run out of iPhones in the USA. Although Apple usually presents new iPhone models in September, prices can increase even earlier if the current supplies in the US exhaust.

How much prices will increase depends on whether Apple and his partners decide to take part of the additional costs.

Analysts from UBS estimate that the price of the basic iPhone 16 Pro Max (currently costing $ 1199, or about PLN 4,800) produced in China may increase by as much as $ 800 (PLN 3,200), i.e. by 67 percent.

In turn, the iPhone 16 Pro installed in India He would only travel by $ 45 (PLN 180). These calculations include new duties at 125 percent. for goods from China and a 90-day suspension of customs duties on other countries. Earlier, UBS estimated an increase of $ 675 (PLN 2,700) for a model from China and $ 120 (PLN 480) for this from India.

Ben Wood with CCS Insight told BBC that if the duties remain in force, Apple can raise the prices of iPhones around the world when its next version is introduced.

“It is unlikely that the company wants to have different prices around the world,” he said. According to him, the technological giant would like to avoid a situation in which people buy a device cheap in Great Britain and sell it with a profit in the USA.

A spokeswoman for the White House, Karoline Leavitt, said on Tuesday that Trump believes that the production of iPhones could be transferred to the USA. However, this seems not very real.

In recent years, Apple has started to move part of its production to India and Vietnamto reduce dependence on China. According to the reports of “The Financial Times” and “The Times of India” in recent days Apple has increased the delivery of iPhones to the USA from India at the expense of China.
