– We assume that there could also have been destruction or damage to property, which in turn is a crime punishable by up to five years in prison. Monitoring records will be important, which is why actions have been taken to secure recordings from all cameras that could have recorded the event, at least in part. We are also counting on contact from people who have encountered irresponsible and dangerous behavior – said prosecutor Krzysztof Kopania during the activities.

Shocking video

About the case We announced on Wednesday, January 1. That day, a video recorded shortly after the New Year appeared on the “LDZ Motoryzowani Łodzianie” profile. The film shows a fragment of Włókiennicza Street in the center of Łódź, renovated as part of the area revitalization. The recording begins with two people visible on the sidewalk, moving, crouching behind parked cars.

Two people appear at the bottom of the screen – probably a man and a woman – running towards the gate of the tenement house at 5 Włókiennicza Street. After a while, the woman is hit by a firework flying along the street. The video shows a colorful explosion. Once hit, she continues running – turns right and runs along the buildings. The man accompanying her finds shelter in the open gate of the tenement house and quickly closes it. As he does so, another bullet hits him in the head and he explodes in bright red light.

Within a few seconds, two more objects glowing with colored light fly quickly past him.

Shortly afterwards, the perpetrator of the entire situation is visible in the frame. He runs with his hand outstretched, holding a fireworks launcher. He deliberately runs to the gate where another man was seeking shelter from the bullets a moment ago and tries to hit him again. However, the bullets shatter against the gate and almost wound the attacker. After firing two shots in this way, the attacker continues running in the direction where the woman ran away from him.

The video shows passers-by trying to hide from him behind cars parked at the edge of the road.
