We need to put the legal system in order, we cannot do it without the president, said Maciej Berek, chairman of the Standing Committee of the Council of Ministers. He said that despite Andrzej Duda “blocking changes”, the government is “doing everything possible”. – This is not a way to wait it out. Laws and a draft amendment to the constitution are being prepared. It's not like we're sitting and waiting, said the guest of “Fakty po Faktach”.

The guest of “Fakty po Faktach” was the chairman of the Standing Committee of the Council of Ministers Maciej Berek. He talked, among other things, about the government's disputes with the president regarding the rule of law.

– The scale of the systemic destruction of the state in many areas – personal, legal, so that the state does not function properly – was so far advanced that the way out of this is actually possible in three variants – says Berek.

He said that the first option is for people who are concerned that they are holding their positions contrary to the procedures to resign from their positions. The second option is “statutory changes”. – The president is only needed to change laws. All changes related to this are blocked by the president – said the guest of “Fakty po Faktach”.

– We have a third option – to do everything that is possible – explained Berek.

When asked where the government was in the fight to restore the rule of law, Berek replied that it was “somewhere between variants two and three.” – Citizens have the right to expect efficient action from the state, we need to put the legal system in order, we cannot do it without the president – says the TVN24 guest.

He noted that “this is not a way to wait it out.” – Laws are being prepared, a draft amendment to the constitution is being prepared. It's not like we're sitting and waiting. There are activities being performed all the time. (…) There is no point in pretending – the president will not agree to the statutory path. Someone may say: why are you making laws? In order to show this legal concept, he explained.

– We are doing everything possible, but some final steps must involve changing the letter of the law – he added.
