Norwegian police are closing their official channels on Elon Musk's X platform. She created her own application with information. Police officers want to avoid impersonating their identity or providing content for the uncontrolled development of artificial intelligence.

Instead of profiles on the former Twitter, the police have created their own mobile application, Politiloggen, which provides users with all the information that has previously been published on social media. So far, to follow the information about road accidentswanted, missing, committed crimes and offenses, it was necessary to track many police profiles on X. Now everything is collected and transmitted by one application.

– Politiloggen was created exclusively using our resources. Five police IT specialists prepared a new solution as part of their duties. A year and a half of preparations required the involvement of all regional police headquarters, but also cooperation with journalists, explained Sidsel Anita Aarsnes Linden from the Norwegian police.

The police want to avoid spreading disinformation

The police admit that the new solution was created to prevent the shared information from reaching unauthorized entities, including the X platform. As they argue, their own application will avoid the risk of fraudsters using fake profiles or spreading disinformation. Police messages will also not be used for unauthorized building of AI resources belonging to the former Twitter.

Since its launch, the Politiloggen application has been downloaded to over 100,000 devices.
