24-year-old Wiktoria ChoĆuj started the Olympic competition very well. In the 1/8 finals she defeated the two-time world championship medalist – Chinese Zhou Feng 10:3.
Polish wrestler has no chance against the main favorite for gold. Now she has to keep her fingers crossed for her
In the quarterfinals, however, the Pole had an even more difficult task, as she faced 20-year-old American Amit Elor, a great talent of American wrestling. Elor can already boast two world championships in the 72-kilogram category at such a young age. And although she had to drop to a lower category at the Paris Games, she was still the main favorite to win Olympic gold.
Elor quickly tried to confirm this. She quickly scored a two-point bypass, and a moment later pushed the Pole off the mat, making it 3-0 for the American.
The 20-year-old from the United States fought very offensively the whole time, and ChoĆuj didn't have much to say. After the first of two rounds, it was 5:0 for Elor, who was in full control of the fight until the end. In the end, she defeated the Pole 8:0 and she confidently advanced to the semi-finals, where she will fight for a medal, while Wiktoria ChoĆuj has to wait for Elor to advance to the finals and then play in the repechages.
Four more Polish wrestlers will compete at the Olympic Games in Paris. In the classic style, it will be Arkadiusz KuĆynycz (up to 87 kg), while in the freestyle, it will be Anhelina Ćysak (up to 57 kg), Zbigniew Baranowski (up to 97 kg) and Robert Baran (up to 125 kg).
