From the competition for amateurs to festival triumphs

Regina Pisarek was born at the beginning of World War II – March 25, 1939. The hardships of war childhood sweetened her passion for music. She went to a pedagogical high school, and later also to the high school. It quickly turned out that music is more than a hobby in Regina's life. The young girl decided to participate in the Polish Radio competition, organized for amateur singers. 19 -year -old Regina did not win, but she was on the podium – she took third place. This added her wings and faith in her own abilities. In 1960 she went to the Song Studio of Zakr, led by the famous singer Julian Sztatler. Properly trained, he turned out to be a career gate. In 1963, Regina performed at the Rostock festival. She took third place there, but it was just the beginning. A few months later, she sang first place at the Sopot Festival in Sopot. But there were a lot of talented vocalists in Poland, and the festival wins did not necessarily translate into rapid career development in their homeland and high fees. However, Regina Pisarek was lucky – at least she seemed so. Because her talent was also noticed abroad. It was only after a few years that it turned out that what the singer took for the smile of fate crossed her a chance of her career in her homeland.

After the expiry of the contract, Regina Pisarek could count in Western Germany for further cooperation with the local music labels. She was offered another contract, this time for five years, which would require moving to Germany. The artist refused because she thought her place was in Poland. However, it soon turned out that her loyalty was underestimated there. She was no longer welcome in the homeland. And even the sympathy of Edward Gierek was unable to make anything here, because the authorities had a career in Germany as treason. Therefore, after returning to Poland, Regina Pisarek was waiting for ostracism. “I have been refused participation in the Opole festival many times, and the radio does not want to play my songs” – the artist confessed in one of the interviews.

But when they wanted to listen to their conscripts after the end of their service or recommend them to their family, they encountered a problem – PEerel censorship did not allow Regina Pisarek Kołobrzeg hits to get into a wider circulation. However, that's not all. At some point, censorship wanted to interfere even in one of the songs prepared for the Song Song Festival. It was a drop that filled the charm of bitterness.
