Rescuers have found the wreckage of a Russian helicopter that crashed in Kamchatka on Saturday. There were 22 people on board, no one survived the crash, Russian media reported.
The helicopter disappeared a few minutes after taking off from a base near the Vachkazets volcano in the south of the Kamchatka Peninsula in the east. RussiaThe flight's destination was the village of Nikolaevka, where there is a helicopter landing site. It had to cover several dozen kilometers.
There were 19 passengers and three crew members on board. According to unconfirmed reports, the Mi-8 took on board tourists staying in the area of ​​the volcano.

Over the weekend, Kamchatka was hit by a cyclone, accompanied by strong winds and rain. It has not yet been determined whether bad weather conditions were the cause of the disaster. The Mi-8 is a twin-engine helicopter designed in the 1960s, often used in Russian air transport.
