Related family with Putin
Dmitrijew is a former businessman, according to the media, associated family with the leader Russia Vladimir Putin. Already in 2016 he tried to establish relations with the surroundings of the current US President Donald Trump.
About the fact that Dmitryjew, who manages the Russian Fund of Direct Investment (RFPI), has tried to establish contacts between the Kremlin and Trump team for almost 10 years, the Russian BBC editors informed.
Dmitrijew announced on Thursday that he would conduct meetings with representatives of the administration in Washington, adding that there are “forces” trying to distort Russia “to prevent Russia's” rapprochement “from the USA in this way.
The Kremlin's envoy about the US duties: Caring for the national interest
Commenting on Trump announced on Wednesday, the Kremlin's envoy stated that thanks to the priority treatment of national industry and the improvement of the Structural Trade imbalance of the USA “they establish a precedent” in favor of independent growth and new jobs.
He said that the US President's strategy on customs duties “reflects the accelerating change towards economic sovereignty and national interest.”
Trump on Wednesday signed a regulation imposing “mutual duties” with a rate of at least 10 percent. for goods imported from abroad, and in the case of the European Union – 20 percent Trump described them as “Declaration of Economic Independence” by America and “Day of Liberation”.
According to the formula, which the American administration used to calculate the rates, a duty of 41 percent should be imposed on Russia, but according to Trump's decision it was not imposed. The White House justifies the exclusion of Russia with already applicable sanctions against this country, which was emphasized – “prevents any significant trade.”
Surname in the prosecutor's report
According to the foundation of Corruption (FBK), founded by Aleksiej Navalny, Dmitryjew, before he headed the State Fund of RFPI, worked at the Goldman Sachs bank and great consulting companies. In 2011, his property was – according to FBK's findings – a 500 -meter house near Moscow and a 150 -meter apartment in the Russian capital.
The Corruption Foundation has published the investigator material about Dmitrijewo, in which she informed that his wife, Natalia Popowa, is a business joint of Catierina Tichonowa (Russian media for years consistent that Tichonowa is one of Putin's daughters). According to BBC, Natalia Popowa was previously a friend of Tichonowa from studies. Dmitrijew himself sat on the board of the Sibur fuel group with the then husband of Tichonowa – Kirił Szamałów.
Both FBK and the BBC pointed out that the name of Dmitryjew was in the report of the American special prosecutor Robert Mueller on the alleged interference of Russia in the presidential election in the USA. On this basis, the media estimated that in 2016, during the first presidential campaign of Trump, Dmitryjew at the order of Putin tried to make contacts with Trump's relatives, in particular with his son -in -law, Jared Kushner.
Lobbyist George Naderge, who – according to the BBC – is a friend of Dmitrijew, helped him meet in 2017 with the founder of the American mercenary company Blackwater (currently Academi), Erik Prince. However, Dmitryjew was not to be satisfied with this meeting.

The second person in whom Dmitryjew was to strive for help in obtaining contact with Trump's son -in -law was to be – according to the BBC – a friend of Kushner, Rick Gerson. Dmitryjew and Gerson have prepared a plan to regulate the Russian-American relationships, consisting of five points. The last three: mutually favorable economic projects, dialogue on topics in which there are discrepancies between the two countries and the organization of “communication between the leading representatives of the two countries” are, according to the BBC, very similar to what recently the delegations of the US and Russia have recently talked about in Saudi Arabia. Gerson gave the plan to Kushner, but there was no reaction and in 2017 Dmitryjew abandoned contact with Gerson, BBC said.
