The Polish summer ski jumping championships took place in Zakopane. The qualifications already heralded a lot of emotions. Three competitors took first place ex aequo. This is Maciej Kot, Paweł Wąsek and Dawid Kubacki. Each of them has experience in the World Cup and many years of participation. Few could have guessed that none of them would win Friday's competition.
A sensation on the hill. The 19-year-old defeated the champions
Last year, the best three were Dawid Kubacki, Piotr ¯y³a and Kamil Stoch. This time the competition took an unexpected turn. After one o'clock series a 19-year-old jumper took the lead LKS Poroniec Poronin – Klemens Joniak. He jumped 104.5 meters and was 2.5 points ahead of Paweł Wąsek, who achieved a distance that was two meters shorter. Third place was taken by Kot, thanks to his attempt at a distance of 102 meters. Kubacki was just off the podium and had a long way to go border 100 meters were 1.5 meters short.
Despite his lack of experience, Joniak endured the war of nerves in the second series. He jumped 102 meters and thus overtook Wąsek and Kubacki, who advanced to third place at the expense of Kot. It is worth emphasizing that the young man deservedly became the Polish champion.
He won with a significant advantage of 8.5 points. He had an advantage over the third-placed Kubacki by as many as 19 points! Klemens Joniak made history by becoming the youngest champion of the summer championship since 1998. Then Krystian Długopolski won the title.
