Taylor Swift fans who show up at the gates of Wembley Stadium in London without a ticket for a given concert will be sent to another location. This decision is dictated by safety concerns. So far, during the artist's concert tour in other cities, tens of thousands of her fans have gathered in front of stadiums.
Wembley Stadium, which will host the first of five planned London concerts by Taylor Swift on Thursday, has released important information for fans of the American artist. It emphasizes that only ticket holders will be allowed to enter the stadium, and that gatherings around the stadium by people who do not have a ticket will not be allowed. “To help ensure safe entry and exit from the stadium, no one is allowed to stand in front of any entrances or on the Olympic steps at the front of the stadium. Those without a ticket will be moved to a different location,” it said.
Increased security measures at Taylor Swift concerts
During Taylor Swift's previous concerts on The Eras Tour, large groups of fans, numbering in the thousands, gathered outside the arenas where the event took place. In late July, a total of about 50,000 people gathered on a hill next to the Olympic Stadium in Munich during two days of concerts.
Wembley Stadium also announced that staying or camping outside the arena at night will not be allowed during Swift's concerts. Some fans lined up in this way to get into the venue as quickly as possible. Additional ticket checks will also be carried out on-site before entering the stadium.
The BBC explains that security at Wembley Stadium was tightened in 2017 following the attack on an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester. Last week, a terror threat led to the cancellation of three Taylor Swift concerts in Vienna. After that British police said there was no indication thatso that the situation with Austria had any impact on Swift's return to Wembley. It said police were working closely with venue security teams and partners to ensure safety.
Taylor Swift has already played three concerts in London on June 21, 22 and 23. The next ones are scheduled for August 15, 16, 17, 19, and 20. Tickets for all of them are sold out.
