Another collapse appeared in Lesser Poland Bolesław. It has a diameter of ten meters, a depth of six meters and – which is disturbing – is near the buildings. For local residents this is not the first time. In November, the land collapsed only half a kilometer away.
Another post -skeleton collapsed in Lesser Poland Bolesław. It is located several dozen meters from the buildings, on the fenced area of mining plants. In the 1980s it was buried, now it was reactivated. It is about 10 meters in diameter and 8 meters deep.
– It will probably be buried by mining and metallurgy plants. Once, that their plot, two – their areas were mining, so this is the competence only at today, Zakłady Górniczo -Hutnicze – informs Krzysztof Dudziński, the head of the Bolesław commune.
The collapses in this area began to appear after 2020, after the “Olkusz-Pomorzany” mine, dealing with the extraction of zinc and lead ore, finished its activity. – Moving along Parkowa Street from one and the other, what a piece is information not to go down from the road, do not enter the forests, because there may be new signs – reports TVN24 reporter Marcin Kwaśny.

“Zapadliska approach built -up areas”
According to experts of the State Geological Institute, there are about 700 in the entire Olkusz poviat.
– The prediction is that we only know what areas are very highly threatened with the occurrence of collapses. However, we are not able to predict when the sinkhole occurs, because it is a sudden process, unpredictable. This occurs in several dozen seconds, the formation of such a sink. In a sense, it may have such preliminary manifestations, consisting in the fact that the area bends, some small depression is created on the surface, and suddenly a buch: a large hole pops up – says prof. dr hab. Eng. Mariusz Czop from the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow.
Most of the collapses are located in forest areas, but they also appear in built -up areas. Under a part of the houses there are empty spaces – residues after mining.
– When we said four years ago that this liquidation was unprepared, that it was a bit unreflective, it was said that it would not fall. It turned out that the sinks appeared in large quantities. Later it was said that the sinks would only be in the forests. However, we see that the sinks are approaching built -up areas – indicates prof. dr hab. Eng. Mariusz Czop.

Actions proposal
The reality is completely different than the residents were promised. System solutions are needed that is not so far.
– First of all, you need to take action to show the likelihood of collapses or a threat of collapses in inhabited, built -up areas. We know that in Bolesław seven collapses were created in the immediate vicinity of residential houses – believes prof. dr hab. Eng. Mariusz Czop.

With each such information, with each new signs, the residents' fears intensify. Examples of dangerous situations can be multiplied. In October last year, Earth collapsed on the green lane between the roads of national road No. 94. A hole was created then, which was half a meter deep and two meters in diameter.
The Bolesław beltway has been excluded from traffic since February 2023. Only two months after its opening on the side of the road, a sank was created. The land also collapsed in the very center of Bolesław or in a nearby cemetery.
– We know that this area is working, so the fact that they appear is a fact. Due to the complex nature of this process, it is not there, as I say, one source, one reason, we must act wide, inter -ministerial – believes Krzysztof Jan Klęczar, the voivode of Lesser Poland.
Hence the idea of establishing a special team that is to deal with the problem of mining damage, it is to develop specific solutions.
