On Saturday a fire broke out in the Różycki bazaar. Stalls stood on fire at various points of the market. Three fire brigades worked on the spot.
According to Artur Węgrzynowicz, a reporter of tvnwarszawa.pl, a fire took place in several different places in the bazaar – in four points away from each other. According to the services, the most likely cause is arson. The fire was heavily developed, the fire was a few meters, clouds of black smoke were visible from afar.
– Three fire brigades were placed in place. The action was carried out in different parts of the bazaar. The fire was controlled. Dogging and demolition works are underway – Maciej Jabłoński from the City Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Warsaw told us.
This is the second similar fire in this place in a few weeks. On Wednesday, March 19, a dozen or so commercial booths were fire in Różycki's bazaar. The fire brigade then reported that the fire took an area of one hundred square meters. The firefighting action lasted over three hours. Nobody was injured. Over 30 people were evacuated.
The bazaar was still established in the Russian partition, survived two world wars, the Second Polish Republic and the PRL. The beginnings of the Third Polish Republic were also kind to him, but with the establishment of the Europa Fair at the 10th anniversary stadium he began to decline. The liquidation of this commercial giant did not help him much. Currently, most booths are closed, the commercial function is residual.
In recent years, tin pavilions have been placed on the urban part, but this has not revived the historic market. Most of the plot belongs to private individuals, heirs of former owners. And it was a fire on Wednesday.
