Forecasters' announcements: According to forecasts by meteorologists, from December 22, Poland will be under a profound influence low above Norway. Experts from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMWM) have issued level one warnings against strong wind and heavy snowfall.
Strong wind: According to IMWM, strong winds of medium speed are forecast in the coming hours up to 40 km/h, gusts up to 70 km/h, from the southwest and south. First degree warnings were issued for the following voivodeships:
- Silesia, poviats: Cieszyn, Bielski, Żywiec,
- Małopolska, poviats: Oświęcim, Wadowice, Sucha, Myślenice, Nowy, Limanowski, Nowy Sącz, Gorlice,
- Podkarpackie, poviats: Jasło, Krosno, Brzozowski, Sanok, Lesko, Bieszczady.
In the Sudetes, warnings are valid until 11.00, in the Beskids and Tatras until 20.00, and in the Beskid SÄ…decki, Niski and Bieszczady Mountains until midnight tomorrow.
Heavy snowfall: First-degree warnings against heavy snowfall apply in the following voivodeships:
- Lesser Poland, poviats: Nowy SÄ…cz, Tatra, Limanowski, Nowy SÄ…cz, Gorlice.
Snowfall is forecast, causing an increase in snow cover of 10 cm to 15 cm, locally in Podhale about 20 cm. The warnings are valid until midnight on December 24.
