A 54-year-old resident of Wieluń (Łódź Voivodeship) was charged with abusing a dog, which resulted in its death. The dead animal was lying on one of the properties and, as the police determined, the owner of the animal was a friend of the suspect.
The incident took place on June 14 in the afternoon. The police officer on duty received a report from one of the residents who claimed that a man was beating a dog in a single-family housing estate in Wieluń.

– The patrol arriving at the indicated property found a 54-year-old drunk man and a dog lying next to it, whose injuries indicated that it may have been beaten. The findings show that the owner of the dog was a friend of the man who was absent at the time of the incident – said Asp. on Saturday. Katarzyna Stefaniak from the police in Wieluń.

On Sunday, the press officer of the Wieluń police, Staff Aspirant Katarzyna Grela, announced that the 54-year-old had been charged. – The perpetrator was charged with abusing a mixed-breed dog, which resulted in the animal's death. The man pleaded guilty. He faces up to three years in prison, the policewoman said.
