Zdziechowa. The Primate of Poland dismissed the parish priest and imposed a penalty of suspension on him

The Primate of Poland, Archbishop Wojciech Polak, decided to dismiss Fr. Paweł Gronowski from the office of the parish priest in Zdziechów and director of Radio Plus Gniezno and imposed a suspension on him. A statement on this matter was issued by the Archdiocese of Gniezno.

Fr. Remigiusz Malevich, spokesman for the archdiocese, said in an interview with the tvn24.pl portal that the reason for such a decision was “circumstances that make it impossible to continue performing priestly functions.” However, he did not say what the circumstances were.

On Monday, Archbishop Polak appointed the parish priest. Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Zdziechów, Fr. Dariusz Larus.

Fr. Malevich confirmed that the parishioners learned about the former parish priest's decision during Sunday mass. Father Dariusz Larus read a letter to the faithful left by his predecessor. In it, he announced the end of his priestly ministry and his decision to throw off his cassock. He did not provide any motives.

Despite many attempts, we were unable to call the parish in Zdziechów.

A priest on whom the penalty of suspension has been imposed cannot administer sacraments and sacramentals and preach the Word of God. Usually, the sentence of suspension is accompanied by a ban on wearing clerical attire. The penalty may be abolished if the suspended person obeys the orders of his superior to whom he promised obedience.
