Donald Trump met with the president Argentina Javier Milei in Florida. The Argentine president is the first world leader to meet personally with Trump since he won the November 5 presidential election. The meeting took place on Thursday evening during the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) gala at Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence.

As the Argentine portal “Infobae” writes, both politicians met at an informal dinner, also attended by Trump's associates and future members of his administration. Milei then met the future vice president USA JD Vance.
The Argentine leader then delivered a speech on stage in which he congratulated Trump on his electoral victory. As reported by Fox News, he said it was “the greatest political comeback in history and a stand against the entire political establishment, even at the risk of his own life.” – I am thrilled to share the same love of freedom with the new US administration. I am convinced that together we will restore it to the place it deserves, he said.
He also praised Elon Musk, who was present at the event, pointing out that the X website he owns helps “save humanity” in communication and claiming that thanks to the businessman, “the silent majority could be heard.”
On social media, the Argentine president's office shared a photo in which Milei, Trump and Musk pose, as well as Argentine Minister of Foreign Affairs Gerardo Werthein and the president's secretary general, his sister, Karina Milei.
Trump also spoke during the gala, congratulating Milei “for the work he has done for Argentina” and pointing out that it was an “honor” to host him at Mar-a-Lago. – The work you have done is amazing. Let's Make Argentina Great Again, you know, MAGA (Make Argentina Great Again). He's MAGA, he does it,” Trump said.
According to Fox News, Milei will remain in Florida through the weekend and is scheduled to attend the CPAC Entrepreneur Summit.
Javier Milei became president of Argentina in 2023, at a time when the country was struggling with a huge inflation and the long-term economic crisis. He became famous, among others, because he announced a policy of radical savings and “chainsaw cutting” of public spending.
