Sławomir Marczewski, a local government official and former SLD MP, is dead

A long-time local government official and former Member of Parliament, Sławomir Marczewski (SLD), has died – the Marshal's Office of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship announced on Monday. The politician was 74 years old.

Sławomir Marczewski was a member of the Sejm of the second term (1993-97), elected from the list of the Democratic Left Alliance in the Kielce district. For twenty years he actively participated in public life, also serving as a councilor in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship Assembly.

Marczewski was a councilor of the regional council in the years 1998-2018, for five consecutive terms, during which time he served, among others, as the chairman of the regional council's health committee. He ran for the voivodeship self-government from the district covering the Końskie, Skarżysko and Starachowicki poviats.

Marczewski was an internist. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the Medical University of Białystok. He was the founder of the first private health center in Końskie. His involvement in public life and local government activities was appreciated by the state authorities, who awarded him the Gold and Silver Cross of Merit.
