We already had several twists and turns in the dispute about ambassadors. Now the president has signed the nomination for a permanent representative at the Union. As TVN “Facts” found out – the next Ambassador to NATO is to be. Is this the end of the conflict at the end of the presidency?
The minister for European matters does not hide satisfaction – The president signed the nomination the first ambassador indicated by the new government.
– There is time of the Polish presidency, we really need the best people there – says Adam Szłapka, minister for the European Union from the Civic Coalition.
Agnieszka Bartol has already officially become a regular representative of Poland at the European Union. After more than a year of the President's dispute with the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
– I hope that we enter or return to such, not even a good, but normal path of cooperation between the Chancellery of the President and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs – comments Grzegorz Schetyna, senator of the Civic Coalition.
There are already 18 names in the queue for the next nominations
The conflict about ambassadors has been going on almost from the date of the new government. Radosław Sikorski canceled 50 nominees of the previous power. Andrzej Duda expected new candidates to be consulted with him.
Pat lasted a year. There were ups, but right after that. The president recently announced an agreement, but the head of diplomacy accused him of breaking promises.
Radosław Sikorski was even to withdraw all the ambassador's conclusions, but now his spokesman talks about a potential breakthrough.

– In these difficult times, very restless, for the good of Poland this agreement is simply needed – indicates Adam Szłapka.
The Presidential Palace confirms that there are already 18 names in the queue to the next nominations for which there is an agreement with the government. According to TVN's “Facts” – one of the first – will now be a permanent representative at NATO.
Despite this, they are still. – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs returned to compliance with the law, to comply with the habit – commented on April 11 Małgorzata Paprocka, head of the president's office.
The government emphasizes something else. – The government is responsible for foreign policy – indicates Miłosz Motyk, deputy minister of climate and the environment from the Polish People's Party.
How does the conflict affect the position of Poland on the international arena?
And it is difficult to refuse here, because the ambassador – yes – appoints the president, but the one indicated by the minister and prime minister.
– The president may ask about a given candidate in extraordinary situations, even to question, but this cannot have the rules for realizing his views, not to follow the interest of the state – says Marek Grela, a former Polish ambassador at the European Union.
Until now, Poland has no ambassadors in capitals such as Berlin, Tel Aviv, Kiev and Rome. Charge d'Affaires represent us there, and that matters.
