A British vacationer is in intensive care after being attacked by a shark in Trinidad and Tobago.
The incident has prompted the federal government of southeastern Caribbean nation to close seven seashores and a marine park.
The assault occurred at Turtle Seashore alongside Nice Courland Bay on Tobago with the closure together with seashores alongside the northwestern coast of the island
A watersports supervisor at a seashore lodge who noticed the incident mentioned the person was about waist deep within the water when the shark attacked.
He informed native media their backs have been turned, and they didn’t see the shark approaching.
“The opposite folks within the water have been bodily attempting to combat the shark off whereas it attacked,” he added.
In a press release, the federal government mentioned shark sightings have been reported within the Grafton space and the Buccoo Reef Marine Park.
Officers mentioned the closures will enable the coastguard and Division of Fisheries to research the incident and “neutralise the shark risk, if doable”.
