Members of the Communist Party of China have been warned by the Central Disciplinary Inspection Commission not to criticize management decisions ahead of the upcoming plenum of the Central Committee.

The plenum is to set the country's economic strategy for the next five years. “Public statements contrary to the decisions of the Central Committee are absolutely not allowed,” said a special report by the party's Central Disciplinary Inspection Commission, published this week by state news agency Xinhua.

CCP members were warned against “openly criticizing the party on important issues.” “Irresponsible discussions” about the party's most important decisions “disturb thoughts” and undermine the unity of members, it added. It was announced that violating the ban would be dealt with severely.

According to the report, the CPC leadership “fully listened” to various opinions before making a decision, so once the decision is made, all party members must “resolutely implement it,” the South China Morning Post reported.

Extensive party apparatus

Since taking power in 2012, CCP General Secretary Xi Jinping has consistently tightened control over the party apparatus, state bodies and society as a whole. In 2022, he secured an unprecedented third term as party leader, and a year later as chairman of the People's Republic of China.

According to the South China Morning Post, the Central Committee plenum scheduled for July will set economic plans for the next five years and will be one of the key moments of Xi's third term. Chinese economy is currently facing a crisis on the real estate market and is feeling the effects of punitive tariffs USA and EU policy on reducing the risks associated with trade relations with Beijing.
