Two Polish tourists were attacked and robbed while walking in the Colombian city of Medellin. The moment of the attack was accidentally recorded on a recording where the face of one of the attackers is clearly visible. Local authorities have offered a reward for help in his capture.

The incident on El Volador Hill in the city of Medellin was reported on Sunday by the Secretaria de Seguridad y Convivencia, the Colombian government agency responsible for ensuring the safety of citizens. She published a recording on Twitter with a visible moment of the attack, recorded by a couple of Polish tourists. It shows the assailants wordlessly approaching from behind and then attacking by hitting the head and grabbing the neck. Polish tourists were then to be robbed.

Polish tourists attacked in Colombia

The face of one of the attackers is clearly visible in the video of the robbery. The mayor of Medellin, Daniel Quintero, announced a reward of 10 million pesos (approx. PLN 9.6 thousand – ed.) for information that would enable his “immediate capture”. An investigation by the local authorities has also been initiated in the case, the recording shows that a total of two attackers participated in the robbery.

Colombian media also covered the case on Monday. The portal of the newspaper “El Espectador” published a recording of the attack, in which the victims of the assault can be heard speaking Polish. – I was attacked by two men, one of them hit me on the head with a knife (with the handle – ed.). I have a very bad headache, I need to block my bank account. It’s crazy – in the next recording, one of the attacked Poles reported, speaking in English.

Attacks on foreigners in Colombia

“El Espectador” emphasized that the attack on a couple of Polish tourists was not the only case of “aggressive behavior towards foreigners in Medellin” during the last weekend. On Friday, a British tourist was also attacked by three women, and the incident was recorded by surveillance cameras. Citing data from local authorities, the newspaper added that the number of crimes in Medellin where tourists are victims has increased significantly in recent times.
