In the face of high prices of products and galloping inflation for many Poles, the upcoming Easter may be an exceptionally difficult time. For this reason, the Food Bank encourages people in need to help in the next edition of the Easter Food Collection. You can help on Friday and Saturday while shopping. – It is enough to put one more product in the basket – encourages Justyna Liptak, co-organizer of the campaign in Krakow.
There is less and less time left until Easter. Easter this year falls on Sunday, April 9. For many Poles, this year’s holidays will be a challenge not only organizationally, but also financially. As follows from poll for “Fakty” TVN and TVN24, more than half of Poles intend to reduce spending on Easter But some people don’t have much to spare.
To help people in need – including families with many children, people living alone or people in the homeless crisis – once again, the Food Bank organizes the Easter Food Collection.
Look: Inflation in Poland. Food was the most expensive
Over 1,300 stores throughout Poland
Over 1,300 stores have joined the action of Bank Żywności throughout Poland. These are mostly branches of the largest retail chains, but there are also smaller outlets on the list.
The collection lasts two days – it started on Friday and will last until the end of Saturday (March 24-25). During these two days, customers will be able to support the campaign during weekend shopping. TVN24 reporter Mateusz Pół Chłopek visited the Food Bank warehouse in Krakow on Friday to find out how to help those in need.

– There are baskets at the checkouts, there are also volunteers with ID badges who encourage everyone who shows up shopping today or tomorrow to join the action. It is enough to put one more product in the basket and we will be able to support many people – said Justyna Liptak, co-organizer of the campaign in Krakow. Only in Małopolska, 136 stores and three thousand volunteers participate in the campaign. Throughout Poland, as many as 15,000 people help organize the Easter Food Collection.

Needed flour, canned food and sweets
As Liptak emphasized, what is needed above all are products with a long expiration date. – Flour, sugar, groats, rice, pasta, all kinds of canned food, meat, fish, fruit or vegetable preserves, and of course sweets – the representative of the Food Bank listed examples.
Liptak added that the gifts will go to those in need with the help of other charities. – If we are talking about Małopolska, it will be about 60 organizations that support people with disabilities, families with many children, single people, the sick and the elderly. But also places that help people in the homeless crisis. We are talking about a wide spectrum of people who are in a difficult financial situation – she emphasized.
