Farmers are fighting for survival. “The prices of agricultural products from Ukraine are dumping prices”

– Polish farmers above divisions – shouted protesters in Wrocław on Monday. The determination with which farmers are protesting can be seen in many places in the country. Tractors hit the roads, among others, in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, in the south of the country in Prudnik, but above all at the border crossings with Ukraine – including in Dorohusk. – Prices of agricultural products from Ukraine are dumped prices. We won’t be able to cope at these prices, admits one of the protesters. Regardless of where farmers appear, the same thing is said: Ukrainian products have replaced domestic production – and it is simply not profitable to buy from Polish farmers.

A year ago, farmers raised the alarm that the European market was flooded with Ukrainian products. Polish companies also participated in imports. Their names were hidden for a long time. Finally, on the departure of the previous government – at the end of November – the Ministry of Agriculture published the list. Now Donald Tusk and Michał Kołodziejczak announce the publication of the list in a new version. – We will support ourselves with legal opinions this week so that it can be made public. Every Pole should see who was making money when Polish farmers had a big problem. I won’t have a problem with it, says Michał Kołodziejczak, deputy minister of agriculture.

PiS politicians will have problems, KO MPs announce, because we are talking about billion-dollar transactions. – Whenever there is a tragedy, war or pandemic, companies related to PiS politicians appear and want to make money. The head of the PiS club calmly approaches the announcements made by politicians of the ruling coalition. – Knowing Deputy Minister Kołodziejczak, who can be described as a politician with average credibility, the announcements will be noisy and they are noisy, and the effect will be poor – says Mariusz Błaszczak.

Another political problem for PiS is the EU Commissioner for Agriculture, Janusz Wojciechowski. – It was Commissioner Wojciechowski who introduced the Green Deal – warns one of the protesters. This is also another reason why farmers, not only in Poland but throughout the European Union, take to the streets. – This year, a four percent fallow provision was to be introduced. In the following years we reach 10 percent. So in a few years I will earn 10 percent less. We demand that this idea be completely thrown out because it is sick, emphasizes farmer Dominik. Not only the field lying fallow, but the ban on selected pesticides and bureaucracy are killing Polish agriculture – say the strikers.

PiS is encouraging Janusz Wojciechowski to resign. – Commissioner Wojciechowski, in a way, endorses this policy with his name. Conclusions should be drawn – emphasizes Bartłomiej Wróblewski from PiS. Janusz Wojciechowski does not want to leave, and the ruling coalition does not intend to defend the commissioner. – If I were in his place, if I wanted to behave honorably, I would resign – says Dariusz Wieczorek, Minister of Science and Higher Education from the New Left. With or without Wojciechowski, someone in the European Union must take care of farmers’ affairs. The chances for success in EU negotiations are even greater because farmers across the European Union are protesting against the Green Deal solutions.
