Prince William has returned to public duties. On Thursday, the heir to the British throne visited a food bank near London. It was his first official appearance since his wife shared her cancer diagnosis. Social media users commented on the visit with enthusiasm. According to CNN, it may indicate that the duchess's health is improving.
Prince William visited the Surplus to Supper food bank in Sunbury-on-Thames near London on Thursday. As part of the visit, the heir to the British throne met with volunteers of the organization managing the bank's work. He also helped them pack food for those in need and got involved in the kitchen. He also received a small gift from them – a collection of cards wishing recovery for Duchess Kate and King Charles III.

On the same day, William also visited the Hanworth Center Hub, a youth center in Feltham that is one of the bank's beneficiaries. It was his first official appearance since his wife, Duchess Kate announced that she is struggling with cancer. In the weeks leading up to the announcement, the prince had opted out of a number of official engagements, including ceremonies commemorating his godfather, King Constantine. Last week, together with his eldest son George, he attended the Aston Villa vs. Lille football match.

The prince's return to work was met with enthusiastic response. Social media users did not hide their joy under the photos posted on William and Kate's official Instagram account. “It's wonderful to see you back”, “William, we are so proud of you”, “Britain is very lucky to have William”, “Thank you for your service and concern for others,” they wrote. The comments also included numerous health wishes and words of support for Duchess Kate.
According to CNN, Prince William's visits to the food bank may indicate that his wife's health is improving. This is “a signal (…) that his wife is feeling well enough to allow him to resume public duties,” says the American portal.
