Israel. Anti-government protests in Jerusalem, nine people detained

On Monday evening, during an anti-government protest in Jerusalem, there were clashes with the police near the house of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. As a result of the incidents, nine people were detained and three others were injured. According to the media, one of the detainees is Noam Dan, whose relative is being held hostage in the Gaza Strip.

According to reports, several thousand people gathered outside the Knesset on Monday, calling for an early vote elections and concluding a deal with Hamas to release the hostages.

Protesters then broke through a police roadblock near Netanyahu's residence. According to the police, some demonstrators “began to disrupt order, clashed with officers and set fire to the road.”

The police used water cannons

According to the Times of Israel, 9 people were detained. Media reports say that one of the detainees is Noam Dan, whose relatives are being held hostage in the Gaza Strip.

Three people were injured in clashes with the police. One of the doctors whose task was to help those injured during the demonstration was hit in the eye by a jet of water from a water cannon.

A water cannon also caused one of the demonstrators to lose consciousness, and a 65-year-old woman was injured when she was pushed against the wall of the building.

Footage available online shows police using water cannons against demonstrators. During intense clashes, a traffic light and a street pole were destroyed.
