Polish artists say goodbye to the legendary composer and musician Jacek Zieliński. Krzysztof Cugowski wrote on social media that “an era is ending.” Ralph Kaminski, among others, also expressed condolences.

On Monday, Krakow's Piwnica pod Baranami announced on social media about the death of the legendary composer, co-founder of the band Skaldowie, Jacek Zieliński. “Jacek Zieliński, a great Polish artist – co-creator of the Skalds – but also our great friend and composer, has died” – we can read on the fanpage of the cult Krakow cabaret.

Polish artists also publicly said goodbye to the outstanding creator, including Krzysztof Cugowski, former vocalist of Budka Suflera. “An era is ending, the great are leaving. Today, Jacek Zieliński, co-creator of the Skalds, a wonderful man and artist, said goodbye to us. Rest in peace on the other side,” he wrote on Facebook.

Journalist and writer Agata Passent also commented on the composer's death. “A huge loss for Krakow, for Piwnica, for Polish music and culture, for the Tatra note. I send my best wishes to those close to me, of course to my beloved Andrzej. I am overwhelmed by this sad news,” she wrote.

Co-founder of the band Skaldowie

Jacek Zieliński was born on September 6, 1946 in Kraków. He was a Polish composer, trumpeter, violinist and member of the band Skaldowie, and privately – the younger brother of Andrzej Zieliński. Together with his brother, they were co-founders of the legendary Polish music band Skaldowie. The group was founded in the capital of Lesser Poland in the 1960s. Jacek Zieliński also performed as a soloist, among others. in 1967 at the National Festival of Polish Song in Opole, where he performed the song “Dzień niepodobny do Dzień”. In June 2006, he was awarded the Gold Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis. In January 2014, he was awarded the Gold Cross of Merit for artistic achievements.
