Jarosław Kaczyński warns against what he himself wanted to do. He was the one who ended the Third Polish Republic in the sense that he actually undermined the operation of the constitution – said Paweł Kowal, MP from the Civic Coalition, in “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24. He referred in this way to the statement of the PiS president, in which he spoke about the need for a new constitution and “a system that will not be so easy to undermine.”
President PIS Jarosław Kaczyński in an interview for the right-wing weekly “Sieci” he said that when the government changes, “it will be necessary to create a system that will not be so easy to undermine.” “The constitution adopted in 1997 has failed, and it is necessary for the new parliament to adopt a new constitution, provided that there is a majority of the democratic and independence option in it. Today there is a void, and the current constitution has simply failed, it turned out to be so weak, so devoid of real protective structures that something new must take its place,” he added.
When asked what specific solutions he was talking about, Kaczyński pointed out that “institutions, including those attacked today, must have protection subordinated to those who give full guarantee that they will defend the rule of law.” He pointed out that the solution could be to establish a “Council of State with its own power.”
“Devil's perversity”
Paweł Kowal, MP of the Civic Coalition, head of the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee, government plenipotentiary for reconstruction, referred to these words in “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24 Ukraine and chairman of the team for cooperation with Ukraine.
– I read these words and thought: diabolical perversity. In fact, Jarosław Kaczyński described his own rule and his own attempt to introduce authoritarianism in Poland, which he almost succeeded – said the politician.
As he said, to understand what Kaczyński proposes, one should conduct “one simple intellectual experiment.” – Let's imagine that Jarosław Kaczyński won a year ago – he explained.
In his opinion, the PiS president “warns against what he himself wanted to do.” – He was the one who ended the Third Polish Republic in the sense that he actually undermined the operation of the constitution by introducing fake news into the system. Constitutional Tribunalhe was the one who undermined the entire judicial system, he was responsible for the disintegration of the prosecutor's office, he was responsible for the massive diversion of state funds for electoral purposes, he was the one who did all this and people miraculously stopped it – Kowal enumerated.
Kowal: Kaczyński's words are a warning
Referring to the words of the PiS president, he said that “this is powerlessness and helplessness.” – But it is a warning for all of us. That is, they will look for a way to return to power; In order to dismantle the democratic system, they will look to leaders such as (Viktor – ed.) Orban and try to copy their patterns in Poland once again. This scenario cannot be ruled out – the TVN24 guest continued. He added that “in this sense” he takes Kaczyński's words “seriously.”
– Let's not be lulled into thinking that everything has been sorted out and changed, because the transformation after eight years of PiS will continue for some time – added Paweł Kowal.
