The Gniezno police fined a 35-year-old man who was cycling on the S5 expressway. The incident happened on Sunday just after dark near Kostrzyn. The officers also made sure that the man left the road safely.
“Undoubtedly, a 35-year-old resident of Poznań forgot about his own safety” – wrote the policemen from Gniezno. On Sunday after 4:00 p.m., i.e. after dark, the man was cycling along the S5 expressway.
They helped him down safely
At the height of Kostrzyn, the cyclist was noticed by police officers from the Gniezno traffic police and immediately stopped him for inspection. “He was sober. Unfortunately, it must be emphasized that he forgot about the applicable road regulations that prohibit cyclists from using expressways” – informs the Poviat Police Headquarters in Gniezno.
As the officers informed, the reckless cyclist, accompanied by a police car, was escorted to a place where he could safely leave the S5 road.
– The policemen followed him to the nearest exit, where he could continue driving in accordance with the regulations – says Anna Osińska, press officer of the Gniezno police.
He was fined PLN 250 for riding a bicycle on an expressway. But – as Osińska emphasizes – the most important thing is that nothing happened to the man.
