Lublin. Tragic accident – three teenagers died. Autopsy on Thursday. The prosecutor’s office is examining the footage from inside the car

An autopsy will be carried out at the Forensic Medicine Department in Lublin. – During the examination, blood and tissue fragments will be taken from the deceased for the presence of alcohol and other psychoactive substances – prosecutor Kępka told us.

As the prosecutor informed us, the condition of the 16-year-old, who was the only survivor of the accident, is still serious. The boy is staying in a hospital in Lublin, he is under the constant care of doctors.

The prosecutor’s office secured a recording that was posted online, and which was supposed to have been recorded by one of the participants in the event shortly before the accident. In the five-second clip recorded by a passenger in the seat next to the driver, you can see the road and for a moment the counters with the speedometer. – The prosecutor’s office has this recording. We are checking its authenticity – prosecutor Agnieszka Kępka told us.

The investigation into the tragic accident was initiated under Article 177 paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code, which concerns causing a fatal accident. At the scene, investigators secured traces that are to contribute to clarifying the causes and circumstances of the tragedy.

The car in which the four teenagers were traveling was also seized. – The vehicle will be examined by an expert in technical terms – said Kępka. He will be proficient in checked whether the car was in good working order at the time of the accident.

An expert in the field of road accident reconstruction will also be appointed in the case, whose task will be to reconstruct the course of the accident.

– We determine and interrogate witnesses of the event, we collect the necessary evidence that will help to establish and explain all the circumstances of this event – ​​emphasized the prosecutor.

The accident happened on Thursday (January 5) before midnight on ul. John Paul II in Lublin. – The driver of an Audi A4 suddenly – for reasons unknown so far – left the road – informed Anna Kamola from the press team of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Lublin. The vehicle pierced energy-intensive barriers and shattered on a lighting pole and a trolleybus traction pole.

The force of the impact was so great that the car was crushed. To get the victims of the accident out of the vehicle, the help of the fire brigade and the use of specialized equipment to cut the car were needed, the policewoman reported.

The 18-year-old driver, 17-year-old passenger and 16-year-old girl died at the scene. The injured 16-year-old was taken to the hospital.

– As we have established, the 18-year-old driving the car obtained a driving license a few weeks ago, in mid-December – said Kamola. She added that it was raining in Lublin the night of the accident and the road was slippery. – The car may have skidded. We will check the speed of the 18-year-old driving the car. By the decision of the prosecutor, the bodies of the victims of the accident were secured for autopsy. We will clarify whether the driver of the vehicle could have been intoxicated or after using other means – announced the policewoman at the time.

There are three lanes in each direction on the section of the road where the accident occurred. There is a speed limit of 50 kilometers per hour.
