A tree fell on Tuesday on one of the busiest streets in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. One person was killed and two were injured, and several cars were damaged.
A tree uprooted by a strong gust of wind fell onto the Jalan Sultan Ismail road amid heavy traffic. It happened after 2 p.m. local time in the city center, about a kilometer from the famous Petronas Twin Towers, one of the tallest structures in the world.
The police and fire brigade reported that a 47-year-old man who was in the car when the tree fell died. The injured 26-year-old man and a 72-year-old woman were transported to hospital.
17 cars were damaged.
Some of the tree branches fell onto the above-ground monorail track that runs parallel to the street. The trains were delayed for some time.
