Mariusz Kamiński summoned to the prosecutor's office and before the parliamentary investigative commission into the visa scandal

On Thursday, former head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration Mariusz Kamiński and former deputy head of this ministry Maciej Wąsik are to appear at the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw. The first one received a summons for 10 a.m., and the second one for 12 p.m. According to Kamiński, they will be charged with illegal participation in votes in the Sejm. Also on Thursday, Kamiński is to be questioned before the parliamentary commission of inquiry into the visa scandal.

He announced that due to the summons to the prosecutor's office, he would not appear in the Sejm that day.

The head of the commission, Michał Szczerba, said that the prosecutor's office knows about the conflict of dates and is therefore trying to change this hearing within its possibilities.

– It is not impossible that Mr. Kamiński will have two interrogations in one day – said Szczerba. – Dialogue is ongoing between the secretariat of the investigative commission and the secretariat of the District Prosecutor in Warsaw, there is good will to change the time of Mr. Kamiński's interrogation by the prosecutor – he said on Wednesday.

– Anyway, the committee will meet tomorrow. He may also deal with other matters – new witnesses, maybe new evidence – he said. He added that if Kamiński does not appear at the meeting, a new date will be announced “very soon.”

Earlier, Szczerba informed that “he used the powers authorized by the commission, and in the event of frequent, persistent failure to receive the notification, he will take advantage of the possibility of delivery by the police.”

On Wednesday evening, Kamiński published on the X platform a photo of a letter addressed to Szczerba, in which he informed that due to the summons to the prosecutor's office, he “cannot participate in the Commission meeting that day.”

“At the same time, I kindly inform you that I will appear at the next meeting of the Commission,” he added. “Due to the above, I request that the date of my hearing before the Committee be changed and that the summons be delivered to me in the manner provided for in the provisions of January 21, 1999 on the Sejm investigative commission, (…), in such a way that I can read the content of the summons before the next planned meeting date, and not find out about it after the fact from the mass media,” he wrote.

He also commented on the photo of the letter: “Instead of informing witnesses about the committee meeting correctly and in accordance with the regulations, Mr. Szczerba is staging provocations and trying to control the prosecutor's office. I have very important information to share with the public, I am waiting for the correct summons!”
