The Prison Service is explaining the circumstances of the escape of the suspect of a double murder from the psychiatric hospital in Radecznica (Lubelskie). He emphasizes that it is too early to talk about the consequences for the two officers who guarded him. Nearly 120 policemen are looking for the fugitive.
The press spokesman for the district director of the Prison Service in Lublin, Major Łukasz Pruchniak, said that the Prison Service was investigating the circumstances of the suspect's escape from the psychiatric hospital in Radecznica.
“The inspection activities were initiated by the district director of the Prison Service in Lublin, and the inspection activities are carried out by specialists from the central management board of the Prison Service. These activities are aimed at preparing a document that will, among other things, contain a description – step by step – of what happened on that day and led to this situation,” the spokesman said.
When asked about the consequences against the two officers who guarded the suspect, he replied that it was too early to talk about it.
“The possible need for such consequences will be determined by post-inspection findings, which will also bring decisions in this area,” Major Pruchniak noted.
A fugitive can be dangerous
He emphasized that the fugitive could be dangerous, hence the appeal for special caution.
“We advise against independent, direct attempts to apprehend this man so as not to harm anyone. If you have any knowledge about his current whereabouts, please contact the nearest police station or the Prison Service,” the spokesman added.

The District Prosecutor's Office in Zamość initiated an investigation into the failure to fulfill their duties by two prison officers who were supposed to guard the suspect. This is punishable by up to three years in prison.
Tuesday is the second day of the search for Bartłomiej Blacha, suspected of a double murder. The temporarily arrested 34-year-old was held in the Zamość Prison. From there he went to the hospital in Radecznica, where he was under the supervision of Prison Service officers. On the night from Sunday to Monday, he escaped from the facility.
120 officers and a helicopter are looking for him
Nearly 120 officers and a helicopter were involved in the search for the fugitive on Tuesday. The prison guard is also taking part in the action. The officers are focusing on the Zamość district because there is a hospital in this area and in the Biłgoraj district, where the suspect comes from.

He killed his father and brother
The police found the bodies of a 45-year-old man and an unconscious 65-year-old man in early July in one of the houses in Zagumno (Biłgoraj commune). Both had serious head injuries caused by ax blows. The suspect's father later died in hospital. Immediately after his arrest, the suspect pleaded guilty. He indicated the conflict with the injured parties as the reason for his behavior. The court placed him under arrest. He faces life imprisonment.
