“Unusual lead” – this is how the intervention carried out by the patrol on the provincial road No. 590 between Reszel and Łężany (Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship) is described by the police. An exhausted swan that landed on the road needed help.
The bird sitting on the roadway was noticed by the District Police Commander from Kętrzyn, who was driving along this route. He stopped to help the animal, which was “stray and exhausted”. After a while, another driver joined him, as well as a police patrol.

“The bird was unable to leave the road on its own. It was a threat to drivers, but also to itself. It could easily fall under the wheels of oncoming cars” – we read in the police release.
Footage released by police shows the swan being guided with a blanket into a nearby body of water. “After a short while, he enters the water and swims away,” police said.
